Obituary for Maree Rose

Maree Rose 1921-2021

Maree (Peters) Rose was born on August 26, 1921 in Eckernforde, Germany to Herman and Dora Guthardt Peters.

Maree was baptized on March 17, 1941 at the Church of Christ and united in marriage on August 30, 1942 to William Ernest Rose. She became a naturalized U.S. citizen on May 12, 1944.

She was employed at Montgomery Wards during the war and later at Gordon’s Rexall Drug Store, and Burkes, a children’s clothing store. She enjoyed interacting with her customers and coworkers.

Maree was a proud member of the Worthington Christian Church and the Eastern Star. She was a volunteer for RSVP for many years. She especially enjoyed working at the Pioneer Village, Nobles County Fair, and the Nobles County Library.

Family and friends were very important to Maree and she held a special place in her heart for each of them. She loved children and never tired of watching them play. She had a genuine interest in hearing what people were doing in their lives. She looked forward to town celebrations, neighborhood, or family gatherings and couldn’t wait to participate and be a part of these events.

From the time she arrived in America until June of 2019 she made her home in Worthington and at that time she moved to Colorado Springs to live with her daughter, Carol. Maree passed away on January 12, 2021 at Memorial Hospital Central in Colorado Springs after a short illness.

Maree is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Jean (Arlo) Baumgarn of Colorado Springs, and Carol (Robert) Kirkpatrick of Colorado Springs. Six grandchildren, Kim Brownlow of Colorado Springs, Stacey Baumgarn of Ft. Collins, CO, Adrea (Kyle) Frampton of Brighton, CO, Regina Sabin of Colorado Springs, Ryan Sabin of Colorado Springs, Katie (Trapper) Kirkpatrick- McGuire of Colorado Springs; four great grandchildren Logan Baumgarn of Colorado Springs, Jordon Brownlow of Colorado Springs, Dylan Olson of Colorado Springs, and Audrey Frampton of Brighton, CO; two great great grandchildren, Owyn Baumgarn and Anneliese Brownlow: one brother, Hans (Mavis) Peters and a sister-in-law, Lorraine Peters (Franc) Kuemper both of Worthington and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband William, son Robert, and siblings Gertrude Packer, Heinrich Peters, Ann Vogt, Viola Obermoller, William Peters, Herman Peters, Jr., and Burnell Peters.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Worthington Christian Church on July 2, 2021 at 10:30
A.M. with a Graveside Service following. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Maree’s
name to the Pioneer Village.
