The family moved to Sherburn in 1975 where Joan lived until 2017. She attended the Assembly of God in Sherburn and after moving to Worthington, attended Solid Rock Assembly. In addition to making a home for her family, Joan was very involved in volunteering and loved serving people in that capacity. Groups like the Boy Scouts when her boys were in school and later People First of Martin County (ARC of Minnesota).
