Obituary for William Falconer

William H. (Bill) Falconer, lovingly known as “Book-a-ba” to his family, was born on December 16,
1924 in Grand Forks, North Dakota, the son of Wesley and Selma (Stavig) Falconer.
He lived in East Grand Forks, Minnesota; graduating from Central High School at age
18. Immediately after graduation he joined the Army, serving during World War II in
the South Pacific, the Philippines and Guam. Upon being honorably discharged from
the Army, Bill returned to East Grand Forks and attended Akers Business College in
Grand Forks. He was joined in marriage to Lorraine Plutowski, from whom he was
later divorced. Bill worked at Crystal Sugar in East Grand Forks and also Great
Northern Railroad in Grand Forks. In 1980 Bill moved to Minneapolis and worked for
the Salvation Army until his retirement. He later moved to Worthington, Minnesota
where he resided at Prairie House before moving to Crossroads Care Center, where
he lived for eleven years. Bill died on Thursday, December 13th, 2018 at the
Crossroads Care Center.
Bill is survived by four sisters: Corrine Jeffrey of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Beverly
Thompson of Worthington, Minnesota, Carole Piontek of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Janet
(Jack) Kist of West Fargo, North Dakota; one brother Jim (Marilee) Falconer of
Brainerd, Minnesota, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his son Bradley Falconer, daughter Valerie (Falconer)
Bombard, sister Lois (Falconer) Allen, brothers Duane “Duke” Falconer and Wesley
“Buck” Falconer, and his parents.
Inurnment will be on Friday, May 17th, 2019 at 12:30 PM at Fort Snelling National
Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
