     Wayne Eugene Radenbaugh, 85, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at the Avera Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD. Wayne was born on January 26, 1929, on the family farm in rural St. James, MN to Russell and Sadie (Stauffer) Radenbaugh. He attended school in St. James. In 1945, Wayne moved to California to work for Northrop Air Craft. After a year in California, he moved back to St. James where he worked for the railroad and James Brothers Hardware. In 1948, Wayne moved to Worthington, MN where he joined the National Guard for two years, and started work at Montgomery Wards & Hanson Furniture Store. Wayne met Norma Jean (Thompson) in the housewares department at Montgomery Wards where they both worked. They married on March 20, 1949. Wayne had various jobs throughout his life. He retired as a Police Sergeant after 31 years with the Worthington Police Department. Wayne worked part time at Stam TV & Lien Electric for several years.

      Wayne and Norma Jean enjoyed their lake home in Alexandria, MN for many years before they became Winter Texans in Alamo, TX. They wintered in Texas for 17 years. Wayne was a member of First Lutheran Church in Worthington where he was active on the church council and the church property committee. Wayne helped to develop the Olson Park Campground in Worthington and served on the Worthington Park Board. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and woodworking. Wayne was a member of the Worthington Wood Crafter Club. In 2002, he was President of the Golden Kiwanis Club.

      Wayne was a member of the Worthington Flying Club. He had his private pilot’s license and owned several planes through the years.

      Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 ½ years, Norma Jean of Worthington, MN; two daughters, Sherry (Gary) Randgaard of Worthington and Peggy (Doug) Konold of Sioux Falls, SD; four grandchildren, Craig (Melissa) Randgaard of Worthington, Chad (Stephanie) Randgaard of Renner, SD, Becky (Rod) Ward of Sioux Falls and Kelli (Josh) Fagerness of Sioux Falls; eight great grandchildren, Katie & Angie Randgaard of Worthington, Ethen & Elsa Fagerness of Sioux Falls, Cheyenne & Logan Ward of Sioux Falls and Mason & Gauge Randgaard of Renner. He is also survived by his brother, Russell (Mary Jane) Radenbaugh of New Ulm, MN; sister-in-law, LaVonne Radenbaugh of Mesa, AZ and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell & Sadie Radenbaugh; brother, Roland “Bud” Radenbaugh; sister, Mary Evelyn (George) Culver and one great granddaughter, Emmalynea Randgaard.

      Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at 1:30 p.m., at First Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN, with Pastor Richard Ricker officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Worthington.

      Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington and also from 12:30-1:30 pm on Wednesday at First Lutheran Church.

      Wayne loved his family dearly till the very end. One of his last requests was to “just love me”.
