Obituary for Walter Henry Lucks

Worthington, MN

     Walter Henry Lucks, 89, was born on March 18, 1922, in Lakefield, MN, the son of Henry Lucks and Elsie (Trosin) Lucks. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1939 and in 1941, he was stationed in Kodiak, AK. Walter married Marguerite Evelyn Salzman in January of 1943. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1945. After Meg’s death in January of 1999, he married Anne Laura Yost (Hines) in June of 1999. Walter worked for the United Postal Service for 30+ years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Kiwanis, Lions, and the Turkey Trotters. Walter died on Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at the Sanford Medical Center in Worthington, MN.
     Walter is survived by his children, Judy Meyer of Amarillo, TX, Robert (Billy Jean) Lucks of Boron, CA, Jerry (Joann) Lucks of Stillwater, MN, James Lucks of Rushmore, MN, and Cathryn (Al) Pearson of Dundee, MN; step family, LauraLee Yost LaVelle of Chicago, IL, Lynda Yost Peterson of Inverness, IL, and Lyla Yost Dozier of Des Moines, IA; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild, and one brother, Edwin Lucks of Grand Junction, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Louie and Art; one sister, Dorothy Jansen; his wife, Meg, and his second wife, Anne.
     Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Worthington, MN, with Rev. Gordon J. Orde officiating. Burial will be in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2011, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Worthington.

Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
