Wallace Lloyd Henry Stofferahn, 91, was born on August 2, 1916, in Humboldt, South Dakota. He was the son of August and Alma Stofferahn. Wally attended country school near his home until the 8th grade. During Prohibition, Wally ran an illegal alcohol route between Sioux Valley, Minnesota and Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He also worked for farmers as a hired hand for many years until he started farming on his own.  Wally married Leona Bunning on September 21, 1938, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. After their marriage, they lived near Sioux Valley, Minnesota, where he was a butter maker and boiler engineer at the Sioux Valley Creamery. They moved to Lake, Park, Iowa, and then to Marshalltown, Iowa, where he was a metal worker in a factory. Wally and Leona also lived in Montgomery, Iowa, and Harris, Iowa. They then moved to Worthington, Minnesota, where he owned a gas station. After several years he became the boiler engineer at the Worthington Regional Hospital, eventually retiring from there as the Chief Engineer.
