Obituary for Virginia McCuen

Worthington, Minnesota

     Virginia Ruth McCuen, 88, was born on October 20, 1920, in Louisville, KY. She was the only child of Adolph and Nora (Steedle) Katzman. Virginia married Harry McCuen on September 22, 1945, in Louisville. After their marriage, they resided in Louisville for a year before moving to Brewster, MN, in 1946. In 1949, they moved to a farm outside of Worthington, where she continued to live until moving into the Meadows in 2007. Virginia was a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. She enjoyed sewing wedding dresses for others, ceramics, and gardening. Virginia died on Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington, MN.
     Virginia is survived by two children, Wayne (Leanne) McCuen of Worthington, MN, and Joyce (Ken) Riley of Richfield, MN; five grandchildren, Jennifer (McCuen) and Mark Evers and their child, Zoe, Wendy (McCuen) and Steve Ossefoort and their children, Daryan and Theodore, Amynda (Riley) and Chris Hadfield and their child, Evan, Bryan and Holly McCuen and their child, Bryly, and Steve Riley, and two more great grandchildren on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry in 1992, and a great grandchild, Addyson Ossefoort.
     Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2009, at 10:00 a.m., at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington, MN, with Rev. James Krapf officiating. Casket bearers will be Steve McCuen, Myron Adolph, Ross Teerink, Roger Teerink, Bruce Burnham, and Tom Wallace. Burial will be in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 14, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
