Obituary for Virginia Lea Kruger

Worthington, MN


      Virginia Lea “Ginger” Kruger, age 62, was born on May 17, 1952, in Worthington, MN, the daughter of Delbert and Alice (Clark) Peck. She graduated from Worthington High School in 1970, attended SMSU in Marshall and graduated from Minnesota West in Worthington. Ginger married G.L. “Snuffy” Kruger on April 2, 1971. They later divorced. She was a waitress for many years. Ginger worked at Walmart for thirteen years, starting in Marshall and then in Worthington. She worked in various departments including the snack bar, cashier, CSM, and the photo department. Ginger was a very active member and officer of the Eagles Club in Worthington. Ginger enjoyed computer games, puzzle books, board and card games, reading, bowling, going to Valleyfair, gambling trips to casinos with friends, and good conversation over a cold beer. She also enjoyed traveling when she could to Texas, Las Vegas, Florida, and going on a cruise. Ginger treated all her daughters’ friends just like her own kids and was always encouraging her kids and grandkids at their various activities. She completed her first 5K last year. Ginger died on Sunday, May 25, 2014, at the Sanford Worthington Medical Center in Worthington, MN.

      Ginger is survived by two daughters, Missy (Chad) Raverty and their children, Cody (fiancée, TaNeil) of Sioux Falls, SD and Tyler of Heron Lake, MN, and Wendy Kruger of Fargo, ND; one sister, Judy (Wayne) Zinnel of Brewster, MN; nephews, Kelly (Maryann) of Hawarden, IA and Kerry (special friend, Trisha) of Brewster, MN, and her daughters’ cats, Pepper and Chester. She was preceded in death by her parents.

      A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the Eagles Club in Worthington, MN. There will be a memorial service at 4:00 p.m., with Pastor Margaret Yackel-Juleen officiating, followed by an Eagles Memorial Service.

Family burial will be in the Hersey Cemetery near Brewster, MN.


Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
