Obituary for Viola Ling

Worthington, MN

      Viola “Dolly” Ling, age 91, was born on March 1, 1923, in Worthington, MN, the daughter of David and Julia Edna (Thomas) Bryngelson. She graduated from high school in Bigelow, MN. Viola married Arnold K. Ling on March 1, 1946, at the Church of Christ in Worthington, MN. She worked as a telephone operator for several years and was a hard-working farm wife and homemaker. Viola was baptized and was a loyal, lifetime member of the Worthington Christian Church. She was a great pie and soup maker, a wonderful Mom, and family was always first for her. Viola died on Sunday, April 13, 2014, at the Sanford Worthington Medical Center in Worthington, MN.

      Viola is survived by six children, Gary of Round Lake, MN, Kay (Dale) of Rochester, MN, Lonna of Rochester, MN, Daniel of Sioux Falls, SD, Peggy (John) of Huron, SD, and Daryl (Joanne) of Harrisburg, SD; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-five great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, seven brothers, four sisters, and one son-in-law.

      Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at 10:00 a.m., at the Worthington Christian Church in Worthington, MN, with Pastor Doug White officiating. Viola’s grandsons will serve as casket bearers. Burial will be in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
