Obituary for Vernon D Suby

Worthington, Minnesota
 
     Vernon D. Suby, 85, was born on January 28, 1923, on the farm near Fertile, IA, the son of Peter and Elvina (Nelson) Suby.  He graduated from high school in Emmons, MN.  Vernon married Bertha Brua on July 25, 1943, in Emmons.  He farmed south of Emmons with his father.  In 1960, they moved to Worthington, MN, where he purchased Worthington Block & Tile along with his brother-in-law and sister, Keith and Rosella Nerem.  They later purchased and operated Currie Block & Tile in Currie, MN, until retirement in 1989.  Vernon died on Tuesday, November 18, 2008, at Mount Olivet Careview in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
     Vernon is survived by his wife of 65 years, Bertha, of Worthington, MN; seven children, Beverly (Kurt) Rogness, of Minneapolis, MN, Linda (John) Pembroke, of Evergreen, CO, Paul (Moushira) Suby, of Lakeville, MN, Tom (Kathy) Suby, of Marshall, MN, Sue (Earl) Standafer, of Burnsville, MN, Pete (Jeanne) Suby, of Brewster, MN, and Ann Suby, of Hastings, MN; 19 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren, and one sister, Rosella Nerem, of Worthington, MN.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
     Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2008, at 10:30 a.m., at the American Lutheran Church in Worthington, Minnesota, with the Rev. Mike Zaske officiating.  Vernon’s grandchildren and nephew, David Nerem will serve as casket bearers.  Burial will be held at 3:30 p.m. at the Silver Lake Cemetery in Silver Lake, Iowa.
 
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 21, 2008, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, Minnesota.
