Round Lake, MinnesotaÂ
     Vernon Carl Freitag, 73, was born on September 2, 1935, in Cottonwood County, MN, the son of Arnold and Laura (Jass) Freitag. He graduated from Butterfield High School in 1953. Vernon married Sharon Hoffman on November 6, 1956, in Mountain Lake, MN. He became a truck driver and drove for Sather Trucking of Round Lake, MN, for 40 years, retiring in 1998. He enjoyed flower gardening, jigsaw puzzles, traveling with family, and wintering down south with Sharon. Vernon died on Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington, MN.
    Vernon is survived by his wife, Sharon of Round Lake, MN; three children, Sharlene (Dan) Arthur of Omaha, NE and their children, Kristopher (Katrina) Spessard, Heather (Preston) Schroer, and Ashley Spessard, Rick (Gail) Freitag of Alexandria, MN and their children, Amanda (Scott) Ginn, Grace Freitag, and Bennett Freitag, and Rodd (Stephanie) Freitag of Eau Claire, WI and their children, Joseph Freitag and Thomas Freitag; twin brother, Virgil Freitag of Butterfield, MN; two sisters, Joyce (Ron) Halverson of Alpha, MN and Shirley (Leon) Berdan of Lafayette, MN; sister-in-law, Bernice Freitag of Mountain Lake, MN; brother-in-law, Marlyn Meyer of Holland, IA, and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Lois Meyer and Irene Meyer, and one brother, Leroy Freitag.
    Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Round Lake, MN, with Rev. Benjamin Rucker officiating. Casket bearers will be Kristopher Spessard, Preston Schroer, Bennett Freitag, Scott Ginn, Lyle Freitag, and Ryan Freitag. Honorary bearers will be Joe Freitag and Tom Freitag. Burial will be in the Round Lake Cemetery.
