Obituary for Verla Gayle Boots

Worthington, Minnesota
     Verla Gayle Boots, 72, was born on June 10, 1936, in Sibley, IA, the daughter of Glenn and Gladys (Stevens) Attig.  She graduated from Sibley High School.  After graduation, she attended two years at USD in Vermillion, SD, and then two years at Mankato State University, majoring in music.  She was a youth choir director and sang in the choir for her church.  Verla was a member of several organizations including the Order of the Eastern Star in Sibley, IA, PEO, and Hospital Auxiliary, including working in the gift shop.  Verla served her community as member of the park board, an election judge, and coordinating and working with numerous church committees.  She enjoyed traveling, quilting, time at the lake, and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.  Verla died on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at the Sanford Regional Hospital in Worthington, MN.
     Verla is survived by her husband, Robert J. Boots of Worthington, MN; three daughters, Lori (Paul) Dyke and their children, Matt and Sarah of Hartford, SD, Shelly (Richard) St. Germain of Shakopee, MN, and Amy (Scott) Loveless and their children, Katie, Josh, and Emma of Lakeville, MN; the son she never had, David Holmberg of Burnsville, MN; one brother, Daryl (Shirley) Attig of Ogden, UT; two step sisters, Judy (Jerry) Geilenfeld of Watertown, SD, and Lynette (Steve) Steenhoven of George, IA, and one step brother, Lowell LaCour of George, IA.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Gladys and her step father, Charles LaCour.
     Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2009, at 10:00 a.m., at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington, MN, with Rev. Jim Krapf officiating.  Private family burial will be held in the Sibley Cemetery.   Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2009, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington.
Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
