Obituary for Tillie Dora Kluever

Worthington, MN

      Tillie Dora (Christians) Kluever, the daughter of Edward W. and Tanna (Hinders) Christians, was born in Elgin Township, Lyon County, Iowa on February 24, 1921. At a young age the family moved to the Worthington area. She attended country school in Nobles County. On October 17, 1940, she was united in marriage to Carl Kluever in Sibley, Iowa. The couple made their home in Worthington. The couple had eleven children. On July 25, 2015 at the age of 94 years, five months, and one day, Tillie passed away at Crossroads Care Center in Worthington.

      Tillie was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Tillie and Carl enjoyed going to dances in Sioux Valley; and in their later years, traveling to visit their children. Tillie will be remembered by her family as a very strong person.

      Tillie is survived by five sons: Steve (Sheila) Kluever of Worthington, John Kluever (Linda) of Spencer, IA, Kevin (Virginia) Kluever of Worthington, Roger (Linda) Kluever of Worthington, and Ricky (Lucinda) Kluever of Spencer, IA; four daughters: Karen (John) Fischer of Springfield, MO, Sonja Engstrom of Worthington, Karla Strothkamp of Council Bluffs, IA, and Julie Hohensee of Worthington; one son-in-law Doyle Harms of Worthington; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great- grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Russell Christians of Worthington, and two brothers-in-law Alvin Gath of AZ and Lawrence Gath of IA.

      Tillie is preceded in death by her husband, Carl; her son Carl Kluever, Jr; her daughter Rita Harms; son-in-law Norman Hohensee; six brothers, and three sisters.

      Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at 10:30 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church, in Worthington, MN, with Rev. Dr. Daren I. Flinck officiating. Casket bearers will be Shane Kluever, Shawn Kluever, Jon Kluever Jr., Rory Kluever, Rickie Kluever Jr., Caleb Kluever, and Kyle Kluever. Burial will be in the Worthington Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, and continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Benson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
