Obituary for Stanley Walker

Stanley Martin Walker Jr. was born on August 16th, 1956 in Minneapolis, MN. The son of Stanley Walker Sr. and Arlene Walker. Growing up his family lived in Minneapolis, MN. Stan served in the Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany. After that he served in the Army National Guard.

     In 1976 Stan met his wife Sandi of 35 1/2 years in Minneapolis, MN. They were married on September 3, 1977 in Sioux Falls, SD. They lived in Minneapolis for awhile then moved to Santa Rosa, CA for 10 years. Stan worked at Memorial Hospital in the Sterilization Department, while living in California. Then moved to Lismore, MN where they resided for 22 years, while Stan worked at the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

     His Journey ended in Sioux Falls, SD in his home on January 18th, 2014. Stan enjoyed Fishing, Nascar Racing and being outdoors, but most of all Stan enjoyed being with his wife, children, grandchildren and his great-grandchild. Stan enjoyed every Holiday, but he enjoyed Christmas the most. Stan loved his work at the VA Hospital where he worked for several years, and the many good friends that he made there.

     Stan survived by his four daughters, Shelli ( Jordan) Rosen of Coarsegold, CA , Tammi Kremin, of Lismore, MN, Amy (Clayton) Huisman of Rock Rapids, IA, and Melissa (Jason) Tuin of Bigelow, MN; two brothers Joe Walker and Jon (Melissa) Walker of Lakeville, MN; ten grandchildren, Ashley and Hope Wibben, Paige and Trace Kremin, Arianna Coleman and Ariana and Madison Rosen, Nicholas Clifford and Jacob Huisman, Zoe Tuin and one great-granddaughter Autumn Biffer. Stan was preceded in death by his wife, Sandi Walker and his parents, Stan Sr. and Arlene Walker and his brother, Paul Walker.

     Funeral services will be held on January 24th, 2014 at 11am at the Benson Funeral Home Chapel in Worthington, MN with Pastor Matt Miller Officiating. Casket bears will be Clayton Huisman, Jason Tuin, Tyler Biffer, Nicholas Clifford, Jon Jr and Jake Walker. Honorary bearers will be Trace and Keven Kremin. Burial will be in the Round Lake Cemetery.


Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Thursday, January 23, 2014, at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, MN.
