Worthington, Minnesota

     Shirley June Fauskee, 79, of Worthington, died on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, following surgery at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
     Born on June 4, 1929, in Worthington, she was the daughter of Emma Hutt and Charles Baker. She graduated from Worthington High School in 1948. Shirley was united in marriage to John D. Fauskee on September 2, 1950, in Worthington. Together they raised five children, with Shirley taking an active role in PTA, YMCA Swim Team, school sports, and music. She worked alongside her husband, John in their plumbing business and also worked at Fauskee Nursing Home. Shirley was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Worthington. She was active in the Lady Elks and Worthington Country Club and enjoyed playing bingo and bridge. Shirley was an avid Minnesota Viking and Twins fan and is the reigning family champion in Shanghai Rummy. Her life joy was her children, grandchildren, and most recently, her great grandchildren. Shirley will be remembered for her giving heart and loyalty to family and friends.
     Shirley will be greatly missed by her five children, Patty (“Jake” Lyle) Jacobs of Poulsbo, WA, Chuck (Donna) Fauskee of Carlsbad, CA, Mary (Roger) Stever of Picton, Ontario, Canada, Kathy Nelson (Ronnie Cook) of Sioux Falls, SD, and Dan (Lori) Fauskee of Worthington, MN; twelve grandchildren, Brian, Ben, Chad, Michael, Jessica, Trina, Trisha, Jennifer, Lacey, Maggie, Blake, and Brittin, and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her grandson, Matthew Stever, and brother, Burnell Decker.
     Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2009, at 10:30 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Worthington, MN, with Rev. Gordon J. Orde officiating. Casket bearers will be Roger Stever, Brian Jacobs, Francis Meier, Harlan Boersma, Gary Erwin, and Tom Tracy.  Burial will be in the Worthington Cemetery.
 
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 3, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
