Shirley Jane (Lindquist) O’Neil, age 80, was born on June 23, 1936, in Montevideo, MN, the daughter of Oscar and Margaret (Erickson) Lindquist. She married Frank O’Neil on July 9, 1955, in Worthington and they were married for 62 years. Throughout their married life, they lived in Worthington, Gardena, CA, rural Avoca, and rural Reading. They have resided in Worthington for the past 33 years. Shirley enjoyed remembering family and friends on their birthdays, Avon, and road trips to area casinos. Shirley passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Frank of Worthington; children, Michael and his wife Deb of Erskine, MN, Alan and his wife Tammy of Worthington, and Cindy of Worthington, MN; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren, and sister, Janice Nelson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Margaret Lindquist, and siblings, Leona Stefferud and Earl Lindquist.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at the Benson Funeral Home Chapel in Worthington, MN, with Pastor Scott Peterson officiating. Pallbearers will be Brent O’Neil, Dan Robinson, Nick Koehn, Jim Stefferud, Larry Nelson, and Randy Nelson. Burial will be in the Summit Lake Township Cemetery near Reading, MN.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, from 10-11:00 a.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
