Obituary for Shirley Fisher

Shirley V. (Sowles) Fisher was born on December 4, 1930 in Worthington, MN the daughter of Eugene and Virginia Marshall Sowles.  She grew up in Worthington and attended school in Worthington. Shirley married Raymond Fisher on September 11, 1948 in South Sioux City, Nebraska. She worked at the Log Cabin Grocery for many years knowing the customers by first names. Shirley was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. In her spare time she enjoyed cross word puzzles. Retirement years were spent in Alexandria, MN at the Big Foot Resort for eighteen years. She loved it up there with all her flowers and friends.  There was not a flower that she could not grow!  Her life with her grandkids was always fun, when they would go up to fish with grandpa and grandma and sit on the deck and visit. Shirley died on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda, MN.
Shirley is survived by four children; Mike (Barb) Fisher of Worthington, Sharon (Doug) Quiring of Worthington, Keith (LaDonna) Fisher of Worthington and Jackie (Ken) Liepold of Heron Lake. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; Doug (Erin) Fisher, Randy (Kristi) Liepold, Nicole (Greg) Kempema, Eric (Mikka) Liepold, Jared (Devin) Fisher, Jason (Nicki) Fisher and Jenny (Gabe Larson) Quiring.  There are twenty two great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She also had many friends and extended family at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home. Shirley is preceded in death her husband Raymond in April, 2007, one brother Billy, sisters Beverly, Donna and Diane.             
Shirley had an amazing life and will be missed by all that loved her.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Worthington with Pastor Joe Behnke officiating.  Shirley’s grandchildren served as honorary bearers. Family burial will be at the Worthington Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10-11:00 am on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
