Obituary for Shirley Ann Comnick

Worthington, MN

      Shirley “Pudge” Comnick, age 80, was born on May 23, 1934, to Orville and Shirley (Sheffler) Smith. She attended school in Reading, MN and then graduated from Worthington High School. Shirley married Robert Fritz in 1953 in St. Kilian, MN. They had seven children and were later divorced. Shirley married Larry Comnick in October of 1974, they recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Shirley worked for Southwest Mental Health Center and the Worthington Hospital until her retirement. She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington. Her biggest enjoyment was her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Shirley died on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.

      Shirley is survived by her husband, Larry of Worthington, MN; seven children, Barb (Dennis) Hebig of Wilmont, MN, Pam (Rod) Mastbergen of Worthington, MN, Ron (Rhonda) Fritz of Colorado Springs, CO, Laurie (Dennis) Mastbergen of Worthington, MN, Bob (Laurie) Fritz of Sioux Falls, SD, Julie (Larry) Bixby of Brandon, SD, and Becky (Kim) Johnson of Worthington, MN; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; five sisters, Joyce Rogers, Essie (John) Boltjes, Corky (Richard) Robinson, Duff Bertrand, and Sandy (Larry) Brouwer, She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jack; sister, Jean; son-in-law, Ron Klenken; grandson, Andy Mastbergen; great granddaughter, Alyssa Murray, and great grandson, Isaac Gertsema.

      Memorial services will be held on Monday, March 16, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington, MN, with Pastor Galen Smith officiating.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 16, 2015, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington.
