Obituary for Sara Mae Klingenberg

Sara Mae (Kruger) Klingenberg was born May 16, 1934, in Ashton, IA to Tony and Sadie Kruger. They moved to rural Sibley, IA in 1936 where she grew up on the farm and attended country school K-8 Viola #1 and Sibley High School until 11th grade.
Sara was united in marriage to Lawrence Klingenberg on October 30, 1953. They lived in Calumet, IA from 1954-56, George, IA from 1957-65 and rural Rushmore, MN from 1965-89, where Sara and Lawrence farmed and raised six children. In 1989 they retired in Worthington, MN, where they currently reside. Sara and Lawrence attended the Tabernacle Baptist Church, rural Presbyterian Church of Rushmore, 1st Baptist Church of Sibley and upon moving to Worthington attended Lakeside Church. Sara liked to sew, cook, garden, and volunteer for the American Heart and Diabetic Association. She had several jobs outside the home over the years. Sara most loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, and spending time with her family. Sara died on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington.
Sara was preceded in death by her parents, Tony Kruger and Sadie Kruger Huls and son-in-law, John Payne. Surviving is her loving husband of 65 years, Lawrence Klingenberg; children, Lorna Payne, Linnet and Jim Landers and their children Ashley and Erin, Colleen and Dave Wensil and their children Christina and spouse Quentin Queen, John and Benjamin, Ione and Ron Hedges and their children Jean Nicole & Jason Johnson, Jamie, John & Rachel Pfundt, Jed & Jessica Pfundt, Lawrence and Jillian Klingenberg and their children Andrew & Lindsey Goerdt, Briana & Chris Glaser and Mariah and Sandra Mohlenkamp and her children Katelin & Josh Swanson and Kelsey & Travis Heins. She is also survived by great grandchildren, Skyla Mae, Dalton, Alexis, Camron, Nathaniel, Jed Jr, Levi, Joshua, Justin, Jasper, Mckenzie, Samuel, Owen, Holden, Josie, and Gage; siblings, Sidney Kruger and Seth Kruger; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry & Ruth Klingenberg, Nancy Blau, and Martha Kruger, plus many nieces and nephews.
Sara Mae’s faith in Jesus as her Saviour was evident. We find comfort, as believers, knowing we will be reunited.

Funeral services will at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at the Lakeside Church in Worthington, MN. Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery of Worthington.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, April 8, 2019, at Benson Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at Lakeside Church.
