Obituary for Rudy Nicholas Schroer

Iona, MN


Rudy Nicholas Schroer was born on July 3, 1946 in Slayton, Minnesota to Lawrence & Virginia Schroer. Rudy attended school in Iona, Minnesota.  Rudy and Diane Jueneman were married in 1971 and they later divorced. They have one son together Marty. Rudy worked at Hanson Silo and then in 1971 he started driving truck for Sather’s and eventually became an owner operator with his son Marty. Due to health issues he retired from trucking in 2006.
     Rudy enjoyed old cars; buying and fixing them up with his son Marty, riding his motorcycle making numerous trips to Sturgis, deer hunting with family and fishing both locally and river fishing in South Dakota.  He especially loved spending time with his significant other Pat Bartlett and his grandchildren, Mara, Isaac, Emily, and Justin.  He spent many hours watching old movies with his buddy Peter Ford at Kadupers after lunch. They also enjoyed many fishing episodes and morning coffee.  Rudy died on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the Murray County Medical Center in Slayton, MN.
     Survivors include his son Marty (Heidi) (Fulda, MN), four grandchildren Mara, Isaac, Emily & Justin, one brother Loren & his wife Carol (Brewster). He is preceded in death by his parents & granddaughter MaKayla.
      Memorial services will be held on Monday, September 21, 2015, at 10:30 a.m., at the Benson Funeral Home Chapel in Worthington, MN, with Pastor Scott Peterson officiating.
    Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at the Benson Funeral Home is Worthington.
