Rose (Rosie) Marie Rogers was born on November 28, 1938, in Avoca, MN, to John E. and Rose F. (Legler) Magnus. She married Edwin (Ed) L. Rogers on October 21, 1956, in the same small community church where she was also baptized and confirmed. This marriage was blessed with 6 children.
Her most beloved duty was raising her children and she felt blessed to be able to stay at home until her youngest started school. Her employment outside of the home started with a part-time job at the local school system. Later, she was employed full-time at the YMCA. She finished her career working as the executive director of the Worthington Housing Authority. She was very active in her church and was also elected to the SW MN Synodical Women of the ELCA board, acting as president for a term. She was also active in the community serving on many committees and boards including the School Board, Red Cross, Blandin Leadership Program, Worthington-Crailsheim International, Inc. & Senior Concerns. Rosie passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.
Left to cherish her memory are 6 children, Terry (Diane) Rogers of Atlantic, IA, Shari (Brad) Smith of Talbott, TN, Randy Rogers of Worthington, MN, Janice (Jeff) Berger of Worthington, MN, Sandy Rogers of Worthington, MN and Cindy (Tom Krumm) Rogers of Rushmore, MN; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Lund of Luverne , MN, Evelyn Vogel of Currie, MN and Dorothy Balfanz of Dundee, MN; sister-in-law, Lucille Magnus of Avoca, MN; brother-in-law, David (Lois) Rogers of Worthington, MN and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Frances Guild, Helen Haack and Verna Bruce and brothers, John Magnus, Frank Magnus and Clarence Magnus.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2021, from 4:00-8:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, MN. A private funeral service will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021, at the First Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN, with Pastor Jeanette McCormick officiating. Casket bearers will be Andrew Rogers, Aaron Smith, Dieter Smith, Jeremy Berger, Brandon Berger and Jordan Rogers. Burial will be in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
