Obituary for Ronald E. Hubbard

Ronald E. Hubbard was born October 31, 1921 at Bigelow, MN, he was the only son of Ralph and Anna (Widman) Hubbard. He grew up and attended school in Bigelow, graduating from Bigelow High School in 1941. He then spent 3 years in the Army serving in the Philippines and New Guinea. He married June Pfitzenmaier March 6, 1949 at Hartley, IA. Ronald grew up in the hardware business, working with his dad at Hubbard Hardware in Bigelow from 1935 to 1967, except for the 3 years during WWII. He then worked for Rickbeils Hardware in Worthington from 1967 until he retired in 1985. Ronald is a member of the Bigelow Community Church and the Bigelow American Legion. Ronald lived in Bigelow for 86 years, then at the Homestead of Worthington until September 2010 when he went to live at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne. Ronald enjoyed fishing, bowling and spending time with his friends and spending quality time with his wife and family.
     Ronald E. Hubbard, 89, of Worthington, passed away Thursday December 30, 2010 at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne, MN.
     Surviving are his wife, June and his son, Gaylen (Jan) Hubbard of Worthington. Granddaughter, Jill (Chad) Ihnen and their children Tessa, Brianne and Cole, Lake Park, IA. Grandson, Eric (Hang) Hubbard and their children Tommy, Mai, Neena, and Kylen, Worthington. Grandson, Shawn (Debbie) Hubbard and their children Lukas and Brooklynne, Valley Springs, SD.
     Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 4 at 10:30 a.m. with visitation at 9:30 a.m. at the Benson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ron Lammers officiating. Burial, with military rites will be in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Casket bearers will Eric Hubbard, Shaun Hubbard, Chad Ihnen, Roger Larson, Tom Peters and Jim Russell.
     Ronald was Loved very much and will be greatly missed. 

Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Monday, January, 3 2011 at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington and also from 9:30-10:30 am on Tuesday prior to the service.
