Obituary for Ronald Clarence Almjeld

Ronald Clarence Almjeld was born on August 26, 1936,to Earl and Edna (Sand) Almjeld. He was the first born, and his uncle Clarence promised to pay for his shoes until he graduated, if they named him after Clarence. He grew up on a farm, the last farm he lived on was close to Arco, Minnesota. He graduated in 1954 from Ivanhoe High School. Ronald (Ronnie) followed the family trade and went to work for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad in June, before he turned 18. He started working in Garvin, then worked in Mankato, and became Roadmaster in Worthington. He worked 42 years for the railroad.
Ronnie and Karen Weidauer were united in marriage on September 27, 1958, at the Methodist Church in Balaton. They lived in Mankato for many years, which is where their daughters Juanita and Bernice were born. They were active members at the Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato. In September of 1975 they moved to Worthington and became involved members of First Lutheran Church.
Ronnie had a zest for life and always had a positive attitude. He was the Patriarch of the family as well as the family historian with a knack for details. He loved to dance with Karen and traveled the area attending polka fests. He also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and attending family gatherings. Each summer he took his family to Third Crow Wing Lake near Park Rapids, Minnesota. Ronnie fished there as a child, and it held a special place in his heart. He was able to continue this tradition with the family he built, and many special memories were made at Third Crow Wind Lake.
Ronnie was a very kind-hearted, giving man of God. He was always there for anyone in need. He created special nicknames for all of his children, grandchildren and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ronnie is survived by his 2 daughters, Juanita Parker (Lary) and Bernice Robinson, (Rick); his 5 grandchildren; Christa Harberts (Jason Trevor), Andrea Kuipers, (Dustin), Kelsey Teets (Ben), Nickolaus Harberts, (Ashley Kass), and Dillon Robinson, (Jodi). He is also survived by his 7 great-grandchildren: Joslyn, Jada, Janessa and Jordyn Kuipers, Grant and Blake Robinson and Easton Teets, and former-son-in law Brad Harberts. He was a loving brother to Donna Amundson and Norma (Terry) Renken, and a brother-in-law to Carol (Dallas) Skaug. Ronnie was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Karen, his parents, Earl and Edna Almjeld, in-laws Donald and Elizabeth Weidauer, infant brother Bobbie Almjeld, and brother-in-law Dennis Amundson.
