Worthington, MN

      Robert William Malcolm, age 92, was born on February 13, 1922, in Worthington, MN, the son of William and Jennie (Lynde) Malcolm. He graduated from high school and then attended one year of agriculture school in St. Paul, MN. Robert married Arline Lois Zinnel on July 13, 1941, in Dakota City, NE. He farmed with his father Bill for many years and with his son Dennis for quite some time. Robert retired from farming in 1984 and moved into Worthington. He served on the board of directors for Consolidated Cooperative for six years, was a board of director for the State Bank of Worthington, and was also on various church boards. Robert died on Saturday, September 27, 2014, at the South Shore Care Center in Worthington, MN.

      Robert is survived by special friend, Doris Palmer of Worthington, MN; four grandchildren, Teresa (Gary) Slater of Wilmont, MN, Tammy (David Lynn) Shade of Chanhassen, MN, Troy (Jessica) Malcolm of Kinbrae, MN, and Tony Malcolm of Tillamook, OR; seven great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Beverly Scharlepp of Worthington, MN, and daughter-in-law, Mickey Malcolm of Ocheyedan, IA. He is also survived by Doris’ family: three children, Sandy (Harold) Zieska of Tracy, CA, Dave (Myra) Palmer of Worthington, MN, and Jeff (Kim) Palmer of Sioux Falls, SD; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. Robert was preceded in death by his wife Arline in 1993; son Dennis in 2001, and brother-in-law, Paul Scharlepp

      Memorial services will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2014, at 10:30 a.m., at the Benson Funeral Home Chapel in Worthington, MN, with Rev. Dr. Daren Flinck officiating. Burial will be in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

      Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2014, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, MN.
