Obituary for Robert Lee Lindquist

Robert Lee Lindquist, age 87, was born on June 19, 1931, in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Lawrence Lee and Eleanor (Sherratt) Lindquist. He graduated from Waterville High School in 1948 and attended Augsburg College in Minneapolis for two years. Robert entered the United States Navy in January of 1951 and spent two years in Panama City, FL. He married Gloria Mae Nelson on February 16, 1952, in Stacy, MN. Robert then spent two years in Newport, RI on board a ship during the Korean War. In 1959, he graduated from the University of Minnesota Business School majoring in tax business and accounting. They lived in Mound, MN and then moved to Mankato, MN, where he worked as a Satellite Director for H & R Block. In 1976, they moved to Worthington, MN and started Lindquist Tax & Accounting Service in 1980. He retired in 2015.
Robert was an active member of the American Legion, serving as Post Commander of Worthington Post #5, 2nd District Adjutant from 1983 - 1984, and District Commander from 1988 - 1989. He was currently a member of the Round Lake American Legion Post #461. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, a life member of the International Association of Legion Honor, a member of the El Riad Shriners and Eastern Star, and a Master Mason.
Robert loved to fish and spent many years in the Boundary Waters. He also had a camper on Lake Osakis/Alexander near Alexandria for 15 years. Robert died on Sunday, April 28, 2019, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne, MN.
Robert is survived by his wife, Gloria of Worthington, MN; three sons, Scott (Michele) Lindquist of Stillwater, MN, Craig (Monica) Lindquist of Deer Creek, MN, and Eric (Nicole) Lindquist of Maple Grove, MN; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, and one brother, David (Nancy) of Ellicott City, MD. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael in 2015 and his parents.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., at the American Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN, with Pastor Gary Andersen officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
