Obituary for Robert Lawrence Hartman

Worthington, Minnesota Robert “Bummer” Lawrence Hartman, 68, was born on February 21, 1938, in Worthington, Minnesota, the son of Clifford and Hazel Lukehart Hartman. He attended Worthington area schools and went to Mankato Vocational School for Auto Mechanics. Following school, he served in the United States Navy aboard an ammunition ship, which took him to many different countries. Robert married Judith Bettinger in April of 1960 and they had two daughters. He worked for the City of Worthington for many years. He then went to work as a truck driver until his retirement in 2001. Robert married Pamela Sowles on June 14, 1975, and they had two daughters. In 1979, they moved to Lakefield, Minnesota. Just recently he moved to the Okabena Towers in Worthington. He liked electric trains, working on cars, fixing things around home, and watching old movies. Robert died on Saturday, May 13, 2006, at the Worthington Regional Hospital. Robert is survived by his four daughters, Carrie Henning, of New London, Wisconsin, Tammy (Ron) Bramstedt, of Heron Lake, Minnesota, Tammy (Rich) Erickson, of Lakefield, Minnesota, and Sonja (Casey) Tobin, of Ceylon, Minnesota; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Lou Roos, of Woodbury, Minnesota, Charlene Benjamin, of Kendellville, Indiana, and Carol (Leroy) Hoefker, of Worthington, Minnesota, and one brother, LaVerne “Doc” (Faye) Hartman, of Worthington, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two brothers-in-law, and one great granddaughter. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2006, at 1:30 p.m., at the Worthington Christian Church, with Pastor Jeff Hicks officiating. Casket bearers will be Dan Sowles, Rod Sowles, Steve Henderschiedt, Ron Bramstedt, Darrel Bramstedt, and Don Bramstedt. Burial, with military rites, will follow at the Worthington Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
