Worthington, MN

      Robert Hansel Strandberg, 93, died on February 26, 2015, at the Royal C. Johnson Veteran’s Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was born October 28, 1921, in Isanti County, Minnesota, to Olaf and Minnie (Nystrom) Strandberg. He was united in marriage to M. Martha Munson on May 18, 1946, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Robert served in the U. S. Army during World War II as a paratrooper, based at Ft. Benning, Georgia.

      Bob and Martha farmed in the Worthington area for many years and moved into Worthington in 1994. He was a life-time member of Indian Lake Baptist Church. He served Indian Lake in many capacities including Church Chairman, Deacon, and long-time Sunday School teacher. Robert was also a member and past-president of the Worthington Kiwanis.

      Surviving are his three sons: Rob (Mary) Strandberg of Brooklyn Park, along with son Brian and grandson Pedro, and daughter Sarah; Doug (Becky) Strandberg of Worthington, along with son Dan (Kristin) Strandberg and grandson Jaeden, daughter Susan Strandberg, daughter Julie (Lucas) Van Wyhe and granddaughters Rebecca and Samantha, and son Scott (Sarah) Strandberg; Brad (Deb) Strandberg of Round Lake, with daughters Kourtney (Jared) Smith and grandson Grayson; and Randi Strandberg and Brandon Colby. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Martha; brothers Melvin, Alvin, and Clifford; and infant granddaughter Karlie.

      Visitation will be held Friday evening, March 6, 2015, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Benson Funeral Home, with memorial services on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at the Indian Lake Baptist Church in rural Worthington, Minnesota, with Pastor Jonathan Larson officiating. Casket bearers will be his eight grandchildren. Interment will be in the Indian Lake Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the service.

Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
