Obituary for Robert H. Bray

Worthington, Minnesota

     Robert H. Bray, 85, was born on April 17, 1924, in Crookston, MN, the son of Henry and Lucille (Crompe) Bray. Bob proudly served his country during World War II in the Army Air Force as a B-24 aerial gunner. In aerial combat over the Balkans, Robert was shot down, becoming a POW and later liberated in 1945. His POW experience influenced him throughout his life. Upon returning from war, Robert became a master electrician and married his sweetheart, Dorothy Johnson on May 27, 1949. Bob served as a volunteer firefighter, was active with the American Legion, VFW and belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He will be forever known for his generous spirit, gregarious laugh and love of motorcycling. Bob passed away peacefully in his hometown of Worthington, MN, on Monday, April 12, 2010. We love you so much.
     Robert is survived by two sons, Kevin of Stillwater, MN, and Michael of Spring, TX. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy, and dear son, Randy.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington, MN, with Father Larry Brixius officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Worthington.

No memorials preferred. If so, memorials will be donated to the WW II Memorial.

Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
