Worthington, MN

      Robert Fredrick Rohrer, age 73, passed away November 15, 2015 at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. The cause of death was lung failure.

      Robert was born in Worthington, MN and raised by his parents Roger & Nathalie Rohrer. He was a member of Indian Lake Baptist Church. In 1966, Robert graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. When Robert was 10 years old, he was diagnosed with polio. Polio took away a large majority of his muscles in his upper torso. He was left with diminished capability to move his arms, breathe, and function. Throughout life Robert found ways to deal with his disability, and his goal in life was to persevere as an independent person. Robert worked in various positions related to technology, such as programming of accounting software, and at one point opening his own business. Robert dedicated the later part of his life to designing and maintaining a Worthington community website. He spent a lot of time researching and gathering information and pictures from the Worthington Library on the dredging of Lake Okabena. His passion was the history of Worthington & his hobbies included eating at Perkins, taking pictures of Lake Okabena & numismatics.

      Robert is survived by his three kids, Roger Kenneth Rohrer, Michelle Aryn Dexter & Ross Allen Rohrer. He was preceded in death by his parents Roger Donald Rohrer & Nathalie Kirstein Rohrer.

      Memorial services will be held on Friday, November 20, 2015, at 3:00 p.m., at the Indian Lake Baptist Church in rural Worthington, MN, with Pastor Jonathan Larson officiating.

      Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday.

      Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
