     Robert “Bob” Clyde Palmer, 82, was born October 22, 1927, in Ceylon, MN, to Clyde W. and Hazel A. (Basset) Palmer. He passed away November 15, 2009, at Sogge Good Samaritan Heritage Court, Windom, MN. Bob received his education in Ceylon public school system, graduating in 1945. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in April of 1945, and was sent to Great Lakes Naval Training Station. He served in the Pacific Theater until July of 1946. He worked in construction for several years. Bob married Monica Newville on December 30, 1949. After their marriage, they lived in Mankato, MN, where he attended Mankato Vocational School, where he was trained in electronics. They then lived in Webster City, IA, and Estherville, IA, moving to Worthington in 1957, making their home there for 52 years. Bob worked in the insurance business for 33 years, retiring in 1993 due to failing health. He became a resident of Golden Living Center in Olivia, MN, in August of 2009, moving to Sogge Good Samaritan Heritage Court in October of 2009.
     Bob is survived by his wife, Monica of Worthington; two sons, Robert R. (Sue) of Keystone Heights, FL, and James (Lori) of Longmont, CO; nine daughters, Karleen (Art) Koch of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Lois (Frank) Lappin of Webster City, IA, Deb Tams of Round Lake, MN, Mary (Forrest) Nelson of Enumclaw, WA, Diane (Terry) Rogers of Atlantic, IA, Ellen (Rod) Noble of Rushmore, MN, Marilyn (Doug) Frisch of Worthington, MN, Peggy (Kenton) Meier of Worthington, MN, and Barb (Rich) Nelson of Onalaska, WI; 36 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; one sister, Jean Neppl of Sherburn, MN, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Charlie, Darrell, and Garry.
     Bob enjoyed taking his children fishing, playing ball with them, and taking them for picnics in the park. They were the light of his life and his reason for living.
     He was a loving, caring husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be missed by all who loved him and cared for him.
     Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2009, at 12:00 p.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington, MN, with Father Larry Brixius officiating.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 20, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington and on Saturday, November 21, 2009, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington.
