Obituary for Rickie Raymond Geertsema

Round Lake, MN

      Rickie Raymond Geertsema, age 61, of Round Lake, died Saturday, August 23, 2014 at his home in Round Lake, MN.

      Rick was born on August 10, 1953 in Adrian, MN to John and Mattie (Bartholomaus) Geertsema. He graduated from Round Lake Schools. Rick was united in marriage to Mary Moore in 1973 with daughter Dana arriving the following year. They later divorced. Rick was united in marriage to Debra Yates in 1980. They later divorced.

      Rick worked in the Worthington and Round Lake area for many years. He was proudly employed as a material handler at Toro Manufacturing in Windom, MN for over 25 years, retiring in 2014. He enjoyed music very much and traveled often to listen to his favorite bands.

      Rick is survived by his daughter, Dana Kemper and her husband Kurt of Fulda, MN and their two children, Dalton and Jenna; his brothers: Ron of Rushmore, MN; Bob and his wife Jean of Garden Grove, CA; Tom and his wife Margaret of Sioux Falls, SD; Denny and his wife Bert of St. James, MN; Dale and his wife Deb of Valrico, FL, and Bill and his wife Deb of Worthington, MN; his sister: Mary Bastman of Chandler, AZ; sister-in-law: Shirley Geertsema of Worthington, MN and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

      A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2014, at 10:00 a.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, MN, with visitation beginning one hour prior. Burial will be immediately following at the Round Lake Cemetery.
