Obituary for Raymond Robert Kruse

Raymond Robert Kruse was born on November 25, 1926 at home in rural Buffalo Center, Iowa to Robert and Minnie (Mayland) Kruse. He was baptized into the Christian faith on April 3, 1927, at Ramsey Reformed Church in Titonka, Iowa. He attended country school through 8th grade and then helped his father farm.
Ray was inducted into the United States Army and served his country honorably from 1951 through 1952 during the Korean War.
Ray married Arlene Stohr on March 20, 1953 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Titonka, Iowa. Ray and Arlene shared 66 years of marriage. Their loving union was blessed with two sons, Galen and Gregory, and one daughter, Carol.
Ray and Arlene lived and farmed in rural Titonka. In 1963, Ray, Arlene, and their young family moved to rural Okabena, Minnesota. They raised dairy, beef, hogs, corn, and soybeans.
Ray served on the Okabena Farmer’s Elevator Board of Directors. He was an active member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Okabena, including serving on the Finance Board. He proudly served 55 years with the Okabena American Legion Post #608, including a term as Commander.
Ray and Arlene retired from farming in 1987 and moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas. He enjoyed golfing and woodworking. He made many wood pieces, including small crosses and furniture. Family and friends will enjoy his wooden creations for many years. He was an active member of Bella Vista Community Church, including service projects, Havenwood, and Men in Action.
Ray, age 92, entered into Eternal Rest on March 13, 2019 at Highland Health Care Center in Bella Vista, AR.
Ray is survived by his wife, Arlene; sons, Galen (Lori) Kruse of Heron Lake, MN, and Gregory (Kristine) Kruse of Okabena, MN; daughter, Carol (Wayne) Linscheid of Butterfield, MN; grandchildren, Levi (Charlene) Kruse, currently serving in the United States Navy, Kelsey (Dr. Daniel) Schafer of Owatonna, MN, and Brandon Linscheid of Mankato, MN; great grandchildren, Jaden Post of Mankato, MN, Aria and Drayton Schafer of Owatonna, MN, and Keanin and Landon Linscheid of Mountain Lake, MN; sister, Wilhelmine Janssen of Granada, MN; sister-in-law, Caroline Kruse of Algona, IA, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; grandchildren, Gavin Kruse, Karissa Kruse, and Baby Linscheid; great grandchild, Prestin Linscheid; brother, Willie Kruse; sister and brother-in-law, Katherine and Dick Meinders, and brother-in-law, Ernie Janssen.
A memorial service was held at Bella Vista Community Church in Arkansas on March 16, 2019. A second memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Okabena, MN, with Pastor Jeff Sage officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment, with military honors provided by Minnesota Army Honor Guard, will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Rost Township, Jackson County, Minnesota.
