Obituary for Phyllis Elaine Hanson

Okabena, Minnesota      Phyllis Elaine Hanson, 87, was born on April 15, 1920, in Windom, Minnesota, the daughter of Daniel and Minnie Hylardes Helder.  She graduated from Windom High School.  Phyllis married Robert Burton Hanson on August 12, 1940, in Windom.  She was a member of the Worthington Church of Christ in her younger years.  Phyllis was great at quilting, crocheting, and knitting.  She enjoyed flower gardening, antiques, and loved to travel, especially to the mountains.  She was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed collecting frog memorabilia.  Phyllis died on Sunday, April 22, 2007, at the South Shore Care Center in Worthington, Minnesota.     Phyllis is survived by three sons, Robert C. (Mary) Hanson, of Rushmore, MN, Douglas P. (Pam) Hanson, of Beaver Creek, MN, and Michael J. (Linda) Hanson, of Arlington, TX; four daughters, Kathleen M. Baker, of Jackson, MN, Mary B. (Douglas) Erwin, of Rushmore, MN, Susan J. (Leonard) Nau, of Okabena, MN, and Deb K. (Ted) Biggar, of Brewster, MN; sixteen grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren; one brother, Douglas (Elizabeth) Helder, of Rochester, MN, and one sister, Mona (Joseph) Whitely, of Rogers, Arkansas.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in November of 2006, one son, Richard in 1958, one brother, and two sisters.     Private family services will be held at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, Minnesota, with Pastor Ron Ahlgren officiating.  Burial will be held in the Worthington Cemetery.
