Obituary for Philip Charles Inman

Worthington, MN

     Philip Charles Inman, 79, of Worthington, MN died on March 28, 2010 at Sanford Regional Hospital Worthington.
     Philip was born on January 22, 1931 at Bancroft, IA to Charles & Marian (Sheridan) Inman. He was the youngest of seven children. He grew up on the family farm, was active in 4H and graduated from St. John’s Catholic High School in Bancroft. He joined the military and served as a radio specialist with the 2nd Armored Division from 1952-1954 serving 16 months in Germany.
     He married Dolores Haupert on October 20, 1954 in Bancroft, IA. From 1954 to 1968 he farmed with his father and brother. After leaving the family farm in 1968 he managed elevators in West Bend, IA; Swea City, IA; Cargill in Marshall and Worthington, MN; until his retirement from Consolidated Coop Elevator in 1993.
In the various communities, Philip was active in Chamber of Commerce, agricultural committees and other community, civic and church organizations. He enjoyed travel, golf, woodworking and playing cards.
     He is survived by Dolores, his wife of 55 years and their 7 children, 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, Thomas (Stacie) of Estherville, IA and their children Andrew (Emily); Christopher, and Laura (Chris) Olsen; Janet (Craig) Deim of Swea City, IA and their sons Justin (Paige) Deim, Brylie; Brent; Gregory (Amy) Deim, Aiden and Cooper; Dennis (Dawn) of Eden Prairie, MN and their daughters Mallory and Rachel; Carole Inman of Raleigh, NC; Richard (Lisa) of North Mankato, MN and their daughters Marissa and Courtney; Lori (Gary) Oschmann of Tucson, AZ and their children Sarah and Zachary; Gary (Jill) of West Fargo, ND and their daughters Allison and Madison.
     Also survived by siblings Paul Inman, Bancroft, IA; Mary Francis (Alva) Baker of Temecula, CA; Ross (Helen) Inman, Bancroft, IA; and brother-in-law Bernard Cunningham of Dallas, TX. Predeceased by his parents, sisters Elizabeth Ann Henderson, Alice Mary Cunningham, infant sister Gertrude, sister-in-law Dorothy Inman, brothers-in-law Harvey Henderson and James Haupert; nephew David Inman and niece Suzanne Dusenbury.
     Visitation will be Tuesday, March 30, 2010 from 4:30-7:30 PM at Benson Funeral Home, Worthington, with prayer service at 6:30 PM. Visitation Wednesday, March 31, 2010 one hour prior to services. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Worthington on Wednesday at 10:30 AM with Rev. Larry Brixius officiating. Burial and military services will be held Wednesday at 4:00 PM at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Bancroft, IA. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Hospice Cottage Worthington or a local charity of your choice.
