Obituary for Pearl Nan James

Worthington, MN

      Pearl Nan Heidebrink James, daughter of Albert and Mattie (Behrens) Heidebrink, was born on March 24, 1916 in rural Nobles County, Minnesota. She was the fourth of ten children. She attended rural schools, and in 1969 received her G.E.D.

      She married Robert Leslie James on August 13, 1941. They were later divorced. She worked at the Worthington Creamery and Produce Company and C. A. Swanson and Sons, later Campbell Soup Co., retiring in 1980.

      As a volunteer, she helped initiate a phone answering assistance service for the Worthington area as well as Mobile Meals of Worthington. She was also a reading mentor at Worthington Junior High School. She was a member of First Covenant Church of Worthington.

      Pearl died on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the South Shore Care Center in Worthington.

      She is survived by her two children, Michael J. (Janice) James of Waxahachie, Texas and Patricia James of Saint Paul, Minnesota, two grandchildren, Robert (Kathryn) James of Arizona and Gregory (Laura) James, of Texas, and two great grandchildren, Caitlin and Michael James. She is also survived by her brother Harold Heidebrink of Boulder City, Nevada and sister Dora Hansen, Madera, California.

      She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Ekke Heidebrink, Edward Heidebrink, Carl Heidebrink, and Wilbert Heidebrink and sisters Minnie Boots, Georgia Siebrands, and Katherine Burnham.

      Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., at the First Covenant Church in Worthington, MN, with Pastor John Stewart officiating. Burial will be in the Worthington Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the First Covenant Church in Worthington, MN.

Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
