Obituary for Ora Lanam

Worthington, MN

     Ora “Dick” Lanam, 85, was born on November 9, 1926, the oldest of seven children. He grew up in South Dakota. Dick served in the United States Army Air Corps and was an Arial photographer during World War II. Dick married Shirley Ohland on February 7, 1947, in Minneapolis, MN. They lived in Deadwood, SD, until settling in Worthington, MN, in 1959. He worked for Campbell Soup Company, Lampert Lumber, and then became a custodian at the Worthington Community College for 18 years. Dick and Shirley’s favorite activities included driving around the area to look at fall colored leaves, fishing, and watching football together. He also enjoyed cutting his own firewood, but especially liked gardening and giving his vegetables to others. Dick died on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at the Adrian Care Center in Adrian, MN.
     Dick is survived by his children, Tom, Adele, Steve, David, Russell, and Juli; several grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley and daughter, Gail.
     Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 27, 2012, at 2:00 p.m., at the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
