Obituary for Norman Lee Teerink

Worthington, MN

      Norman Lee Teerink, age 77, was born on October 7, 1937, on the family farm near Bigelow, MN, the son of Gerrit and Grace (Ketel) Teerink. He graduated from Worthington High School in 1955. Norman married Nancy Lemmerman on January 18, 1964, in Sauk Rapids, MN, in which they celebrated 50 years together this year. He worked as a bookkeeper for Dr. Schmidt at the Veterinary Clinic. He then worked for Armours for 20 years as a payroll clerk and transportation manager until working as an office manager at Rickbeils in Worthington. During his retirement, he picked apples at Ocheda Orchard. Norman was very active in the community, serving as a Boy Scout leader for Troop 121, volunteering at the food pantry and for the Community Christmas Baskets, was a Bell Ringer for the Salvation Army, and hand shaker at the Worthington Middle School. He was also very active in his church, serving as a Deacon, Elder, and youth leader. He enjoyed spending time with his family and going to their activities, traveling, and fishing. Norman passed into eternal life on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at his residence in Worthington, MN.

      Norman is survived by his wife, Nancy of Worthington, MN; son, Jeffrey (Susan) Teerink of Shorewood, WI; daughter, Melissa (Scott) Ericksen of Farmington, MN; grandchildren, Emily and Ellen Teerink of Shorewood and Cooper and Tessa Ericksen of Farmington, and siblings, Ronald (Betty) Teerink, Lois (Roy) Williams, Robert Teerink, and Merlin (Darlene) Teerink. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael; his parents, and a brother, John Henry.

      Memorial services will be held on Monday, December 29, 2014, at 10:30 a.m., at the American Reformed Church in Worthington, MN, with Rev. Irwin Van Leeuwen officiating.

      A time of family and friends will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2014, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington and also one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
