Obituary for Norman Dale Baddgor

Worthington, Minnesota      Norman Dale Baddgor, 80, was born in Roosevelt, MN on October 24, 1926, to Blanche Eastman Baddgor and Levi Baddgor.  He served in the United States Navy for a short time and was discharged due to an injury and moved to Vancouver, WA, where he worked in the shipyards.  Norman married Sylvia Rose Spieker on December 26, 1945 in Worthington, MN.     Over the years Norman and Sylvia enjoyed many experiences and adventures.  Some of these included working at Nobles County Coop as a bulk truck driver for 14 years.  In 1962 they owned and operated the Clary Street Grocery Store where they became well known for their homemade potato salad and baked beans.  They moved to Jackson in 1966 where Norman worked for M & JR Hakes, a wholesale grocery company.  In 1968 they bought a small farm in Marathon, IA.  There Norm continued to work for M & JR Hakes and worked the small farm.  In 1969, they bought a dairy farm in Lake Wilson, MN.  Of all the occupations Norm had, he enjoyed working the farm and caring for his livestock the most.  They moved to Jackson in 1971 to run a livestock farm.  In 1974, they sold the farm and bought the Sunbowl Bowling Alley in Windom, MN.  Around 1978 they sold the bowling alley and bought the laundromat in Windom.      Norm and Sylvia moved to Glenwood Springs, CO and started a courier service called S & N Delivery and managed a storage unit.  In 1992 they returned to Minnesota to be close to their grandchildren and lived in Wilmont and Worthington.      They enjoyed playing cards, visiting with family and grandchildren.  Over the years Norm coached little league baseball, was a cub scout leader and also a Deacon of the Westminster Presbyterian Church.      Norm is survived by Sylvia, his wife of 61 years, children, Rose and her husband Jim Carsten of Bingham Lake, MN, their children, Elizabeth, Jennifer, Jessica, Jamie and J.D.; Steven and Connie Baddgor of Scottsdale, AZ, son Gage; Tammy and her husband Dave Neyens of Wilmont, their children, Meagan, Cody and Logan; Vicki and her husband Nate Halverson of Colorado Springs, daughter Gabrielle; and David Baddgor of Pollack Pines, CA.  Norm was proud to have 5 great grandchildren, Alex Leopold, Jacob Hagerman, Brenna Kopischke, Caleb Herding and Grace Buckentin.  Norm was preceded in death by one daughter Diana Lynn.      Norm set a great example for all his kids and grandkids to follow.  He will be greatly missed.      Norm died on Monday, September 24, 2007, at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington, Minnesota.  Memorial services will be held on Monday, October 1, 2007, at 11:00 a.m., at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington, Minnesota, with the Rev. Jim Krapf officiating.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2007, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
