Obituary for Monica Karleen Palmer

Monica Karleen Newville Palmer was born on February 26, 1930 in Fairmont, MN to Francis and Alice Eisenmenger Newville. She passed away, at age 88, surrounded by her loving family, on May 26, 2018 at her home in Worthington. Monica received her education in the Fairmont Catholic and Public school systems, graduating in 1948. She married Robert C. Palmer on December 30, 1949. After their marriage, they lived in Mankato, MN, Webster City, IA, and Estherville, IA before moving to Worthington, MN in 1957, making it their home for 61 years. Her husband Robert passed away in November of 2009.
Monica lovingly raised 11 children and did sewing for family and friends for many years, devoting 25 years to wedding and formal wear. She was an excellent seamstress! She also had a career of selling Jafra cosmetics and skin care for 30+ years. Monica was a genius at crossword puzzles, her memory was phenomenal! She loved to swim alongside of her Y.M.C.A friends! In her later years, she kept busy knitting newborn caps and donated them to our local hospital and sewed cloth diapers for Haitian orphanages. Monica courageously fought numerous cancers for her last 18 years. She rarely complained and had a philosophy of “Give it to God”.
Monica is survived by her 11 children; Robert R. (Sue) Palmer of Sebring, FL, Karleen (Art) Koch of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Lois (Frank) Lappin of Webster City, IA, Debbie Tams of South Yarmouth, MA, Mary (Forrest) Nelson of Enumclaw, WA, Diane (Terry) Rogers of Atlantic, IA, Ellen Noble of Worthington, Marilyn (Doug) Frisch of Worthington, Jim (Lori) Palmer of Erie, CO, Peggy (Kenton) Meier of Worthington, Barbara (Rich) Nelson of Holmen, WI; 36 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, in laws, Mary Newville of Portland, OR, Mary Chonko of Jackson, MN, and Richard Niss of Spring Lake Park, MN. Monica was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her parents, her siblings; Dolores, Rita, Mary-Jac, Patricia, Donald, Ronald, Jerry, and two infant grandchildren.
Donations in her memory can be made to Sanford Hospice of Worthington.
