Michael “Mike” Dale Rasche, 68 years old, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the Sanford Jackson Medical Center in Jackson, MN. He was born on September 20, 1945 in Sioux Falls, SD, being adopted at birth to parents Lawrence and Lois Rasche.
Mike enlisted into the United States Navy in July of 1963 and was honorably discharged in July of 1969. Michael married Anna Marie Kunerth on January 5, 1979 at Kilen Woods State Park in Jackson County. The couple lived in southwest Minnesota and in South Dakota including the communities of Brewster, Waseca, Brainerd, Yankton, finally settling in Jackson. They had one daughter, Allison Rasche (Jeff Dykstra) of Worthington, MN. Mike is also survived by two sisters, Laurel (Terry) Jones of Glencoe, MN and Marilyn Rasche of Sioux Falls, SD and grandchildren, Payton Dykstra, Tate Dykstra and Jase Dykstra. He was preceded in death by his parents.
As a younger man, Mike worked in construction, building bridges, building homes in Worthington and restoration of historic buildings.
In midlife, Mike worked in maintenance at Grandview Lodge in Brainerd, MN and Village West in Spirit Lake, IA.
Mike enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, boating, nature walks, camping and was an excellent water skier.
Mike was a “car buff”.
Traditional values including strong family ties and personal friendships were the most important things to him.
He leaves behind many happy memories with family and friends who loved him.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2014, at 10:30 a.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, MN, with Pastor Kathleen Brandt officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Brewster, MN.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, MN.
