Obituary for Mary Obermoller

Mary Obermoller, age 91 of Worthington, died Monday June 24, 2013 at South Shore Care Center of Worthington. She was born on September 17, 1921 in Holman Township, Osceola County, Sibley, Iowa, to parents Henry and Marie (Bosch) Luinenburg.
At a young age she moved with her family to Brewster, MN, where she attended school. After school Mary worked at the hospital and also as a housekeeper for Dr. C.P. Schmidt. On March 9, 1943 she was united in marriage to Gilbert Obermoller at her parents’ home in Brewster. As newlyweds they lived in Worthington for a short time, and then moved to California to work in the ship yards. Then Gilbert was called to Military duty for 18 months and after that they farmed near Brewster until 1967.  They built a house outside of Worthington and Mary worked as a home health aide for Nobles County Health Services. Mary resided at South Shore Care Center for the past few years until her death.
Mary had been a member of the Christian Reformed Church of Worthington her whole life. Mary was active in the church and loved to sing. Mary had many hobbies; she attended ceramic classes and made many different things. She loved to crochet and sew. Her canaries were her pets and she loved to hear them sing.  Mary also volunteered for the American Red Cross for many years.  
She is lovingly remembered by her husband Gilbert. Sisters, Clara Hofstee, Grace Dykema and brothers John Luinenburg and Marvin Luinenburg all of Worthington and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Anne (Mellema) Van Roekel and brother Harry Luinenburg and nephew Roger Mellema.
Visitation will be Thursday 27 June 2013 from 5-8 pm at Benson Funeral Home.
Funeral service is Friday 28 June 2013 at 10:00 am at the Christian Reformed Church in Worthington.
