They later lived in Vacaville, CA, and Honolulu, HI, where he was stationed at Hickam Air Force Base at Pearl Harbor. Marv and Dolores had their first son, David, born in Hawaii on June 30, 1956. After his discharge from active duty in the Air Force, Marv continued for the next twenty years as a liaison officer for the United States Air Force Academy retiring as a Lt. Colonel.

Marv married Hermina Voit on Valentine’s Day in 1995 in Sun City, AZ. Marv and Hermina wintered in Arizona for several years and made their permanent home in Worthington.
Marv was elected to three terms as a Nobles County Commissioner and served many years on the Okabena-Ocheda Watershed Board and later on the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources. His lifelong love of hunting lead him to serve as a Minnesota Firearms Safety Instructor for 50 years. He was Minnesota’s Firearm Safety Instructor of the Year recipient in 1994. Marv enjoyed golf, hunting with his sons and grandkids and rarely missed his 3:00 coffee date with his coffee buddies.
