Obituary for Marion Harberts

Worthington, MN

     Marion Louise Harberts, 91, was born on April 17, 1920 in Park Rapids, MN, the fifth child of sixteen, to John and Fannie (Terhark) Mulder. She attended rural school in Lismore, MN through the eighth grade. Marion did housekeeping and helped with child birthing for several families prior to her marriage to George Harberts on January 21, 1941 in Worthington, MN.
     Marion was a current member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington and past member of Bethel Presbyterian in Reading, having served in many capacities. She was very active in Young Matrons since 1947, Extension Club, and 4-H leader. Marion loved her family, cooking for large gatherings, gardening, sewing and crafting.
     Although she never worked outside the home after marriage, she spent countless hours as a Red Cross volunteer for 30 years, delivered Meals on Wheels, worked at TAC fundraisers as well as a faithful blood donor. Marion enjoyed the time spent with George in Texas for 22 winters. Marion died on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.
     Marion is survived by four children, Arden (Sharon) Harberts of Stewartville, MN, Keith (Kathy) Harberts of Worthington, MN, Gloria (Larry) Lutner of Maple Grove, MN and Nyla Reker of Beaver Creek, MN; eleven grandchildren and spouses; twenty great grandchildren; four sisters and one brother-in-law; six brothers and their wives; three sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, son-in-law, parents, two sisters and three brothers.
     Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2012, at 1:00 p.m., at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington, MN, with Pastor Jim Krapf officiating. Casket bearers will be Jeff Ahlschlager, Brian Howard, Shane Lutner, Troy Reker, Randy Scheepstra and Michael Wagner. Burial will be in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Arrangements are with Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
