Obituary for Marilyn Rosella Lubben

Marilyn Rosella Lubben, 80, was born on June 10, 1928, in Jackson County, MN, the daughter of Herman and Clara (Obermoller) Stumpf.  She was confirmed on June 7, 1942, at the Grace Lutheran Church.  Marilyn grew up and attended school in Okabena, MN, graduating in 1946.  Marilyn married Eugene “Jim” Lubben on July 6, 1947.  She drove tractor along side of Jim as they dedicated their life to farming.  They traveled to Army reunions throughout the United States for 49 years.  Marilyn was involved in numerous organizations including, Okabena American Legion Auxiliary #608 for 53 years, Ewington Goodwill Club, U & I Garden Club, quilting group at her church, WELCA, Grace Lutheran Cemetery Board, and the Birthday Club.  Marilyn was a great sewer and passed her talent on to her daughter.  She enjoyed flower gardening, cats, and cooking, being well known for her potato salad and her cake baking.  Marilyn died on Thursday, March 5, 2009, at her home in rural Worthington.     

     Marilyn is survived by three children, Arland (Melinda) Lubben of Brewster, MN, Roxanne (Donald) Reith of Fulda, MN, and Bruce (Naomi) Lubben of Worthington, MN; eight grandchildren, Melissa Hennings (special friend, Jason Goetzel), Bryce Lubben (fiancée, Dina Boettger), Ashley (David) Rodrigue, Travis (Crystal) Reith, Cory Reith, Scott Reith, Stephanie Lubben, and Kristi Lubben; four great grandchildren, Hunter Lubben, Jalyn Lubben, Cassidy Hennings, and Cody Hennings; one brother, James (Judy) Stumpf; three sisters-in-law, Marge (Dave) Livingston, Dorothy Grace Jansen, and Bertha (Duane) Anderson; one brother-in-law, Orville Janssen; nieces and nephews, along with expecting great grandchildren to Travis and Crystal Reith and David and Ashley Rodrigue.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim on January 21, 1996; one brother, Robert Stumpf, and two sisters, Clarine Janssen and Arline Schroeder.   

       Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 9, 2009, at 10:30 a.m., at the Grace Lutheran Church in Ewington Township, with Rev. Kristi Mitchell officiating.  Marilyn’s grandchildren will serve as casket bearers.  Burial will be in the Grace Lutheran Cemetery.
