Obituary for Marilyn Ann Benson

Adrian, MN

     Marilyn Ann Moberg Benson, 76, was born March 22, 1936 in Worthington, MN, the daughter of Margaret Lundin Moberg and Linden Moberg. She was the oldest of four children. Marilyn attended Bigelow elementary school, graduated with honors from Worthington High School in 1954. In 1957 she graduated from Hamlin University School of Nursing as a registered nurse. Marilyn married Raymond Benson of Adrian, MN on August 13, 1960. During their 52 years of marriage they lived in the St Paul/Minneapolis area, Pullman, WA, Duluth, MN, wintered in McAllen, TX while residing in Adrian, MN, living in Tulsa, OK the past 5 years.
     Nursing was a passion for Marilyn; she especially enjoyed her work as a surgical nurse. She always had a large garden and loved growing beautiful flowers. Her faith in God was very important to her. She was Baptized at age 12 at Indian Lake Baptist Church and joined St. Adrian’s Catholic Church in October 1988. She was active in St. Adrian’s Catholic Daughters and enjoyed teaching confirmation classes. Marilyn was a liturgist and Eucharistic minister. She taught Sunday school for many years, led neighborhood Bible studies, was active in Christian Woman’s Club and Women’s Aglow Fellowship. She was a leader for Camp Fire Girls, 4-H, and Cub Scouts.
     Marilyn passed away on September 20, 2012 at Forest Hills Health Care Center in Tulsa, OK.
     Marilyn is survived by her husband, Raymond Benson; daughter, Christine Morgenthaler and son-in-law, Robert; son, Lars Benson and daughter-in-law, Jane; four grandchildren, Jennifer Morgenthaler, Drake Benson, Victoria Morgenthaler and Alyssa Morgenthaler; her brother, John Moberg and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Lance Benson, her parents, brother, Paul Moberg and sister, Ruth Anderson.
     Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Adrian Catholic Church in Adrian, MN, with Father Andrew Beerman officiating. Burial will be in the Little Rock Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9-11:00 am on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at St. Adrian Catholic Church.
