Obituary for Mabel Augusta Mohns

Worthington, MN

     Mabel Augusta (Jungjohan) Mohns, 100, was born on April 20, 1909, in Calumet, IA, the daughter of Herman and Theresa (Wiese) Jungjohan.
     She moved with her parents to a farm east of Round Lake, MN, where she attended school.
     On September 7, 1932, she and Herman Mohns were united in marriage. They farmed near Round Lake until retiring to Round Lake in May of 1983. After Herman’s death, she moved to Okabena Towers in Worthington. In April of 2005, she became a resident of South Shore Care Center in Worthington.
     She enjoyed gardening, flowers, crocheting, and her grandchildren. Mabel was a member of the Ladies Aid’s at Sioux Valley and Round Lake Lutheran churches.
     Mabel died on Thursday, October 8, 2009, at the South Shore Care Center.
     Mabel is survived by her son, Paul (Mary) Mohns of Jackson, MN; daughter, Verna (Ben) Klumper of Worthington, MN; grandchildren, Rich (Teresa) Mohns, Melissa (Bryan) Nyborg, Amy (Chant) Singvongsa all of Jackson, MN, Robert Mohns of Minneapolis, MN, Allen Klumper of Spencer, IA, and Jeff (Pat) Klumper of Sioux Falls, SD; eight great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren, and three step grandchildren.
     Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 12, 2009, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN, with Rev. Tom Braun officiating. Mabel’s grandchildren and great grandchildren will serve as casket bearers. Burial will be in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2009, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
