Lotilda “Torch” C. Sankey, age 80, of Worthington, died on Saturday, August 11, 2018, at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington, MN. She was born on January 5, 1938, in Rock Rapids, IA, the daughter of Charles and Etta (DeWeerdt) Busse Sr. Torch married Jimmie L. Sankey on May 20, 1958. They made their home in Torrance and Rolling Hills, CA until moving back to Worthington in September of 1976.
Torch worked hand-in-hand, as a partner, with her husband in the family business. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Torch is survived by three children, Barbara (Clifton) Schei of Worthington, MN, Karen Hinds of Worthington, MN and Bryant (Kimberly) Sankey of Rochester, MN; eight grandchildren, Travis (Katie) Hinds, Michael (Trinka) Schei, Troy (Kelly) Hinds, Susan Schei, Chad Hinds, Nicole Sankey, Jessica (Tony) Nelson and Amanda Sankey and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jimmie and two brothers, Charles “Ting” and Paul Busse.
Gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, MN. A private family burial will be in the Worthington Cemetery.
Benson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
