Obituary for Lola Mae Geisendorfer

Lola Mae (Wilson) Geisendorfer, age 92, of Worthington, died on June 22, 2018 at South Shore Care Center in Worthington, MN. She was born to Jacob and Anna Wilson on February 16, 1926 on a farm near Granada, MN. Lola graduated from Round Lake High School and afterwards attended teacher training in Blue Earth, MN. She worked in several country schools when she first started teaching (Rushmore, Reading and Ocheyedan). Lola received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Mankato State University in 1975 for Education, English and Speech. She was a teacher at Central Elementary from 1975-1980 until moving to Forest City Iowa. Lola married Robert Geisendorfer on August 20, 1950. She remained active throughout her life, participating in art groups, PEO, tai chi and other activities. Lola was a faithful servant to many churches including First Lutheran Church (Worthington) where she was the parish visitor, assisted with youth programs, children’s sermons, teaching her women’s circle and was on the Evangelism Committee. Lola selflessly donated countless hours of her time to the love and care of others.
Lola is survived by daughters, Julie (Joel) Lorenz and Rebecca (Eric) Sitarchuk and son, Joel (Shamese) Geisendorfer and sister, Julane Coyer, four grandchildren, three step granddaughters, eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert, in 1988; two sisters, Carmen and Barbara; five brothers Jerald, Gordon, Stanford, Douglas and Woodrow, and one granddaughter, Nikki McKenna who recently passed in December 2017.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at the First Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN, with Pastor Jeanette McCormick officiating. Family burial will be in the Worthington Cemetery.
Memorials are being collected for First Lutheran Church and ARK Enrichment Program for Harmony Elementary School (1935 Bohemian Highway, Occidental, CA 95465) and can be made out to the Nikki McKenna Scholarship Fund. This program was initiated by Lola’s late granddaughter, Nikki, and thus, honors both Lola’s family and her love for teaching and learning.
