Lakefield, Minnesota

     Lloyd “Ike” Donald Hutzler, 83, was born on March 6, 1927, in Windom, MN, the son of George and Ruth (Ulrich) Hutzler Soleta. He served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1947, being stationed in San Diego, CA. Ike married LaVonne Wulf on October 24, 1954, in Sioux Valley, MN. He owned and operated Ready Mix in Lakefield from 1967 to 1975 and then the Lakefield Hotel from 1975 to 1985. He also built trailers of all types for 50 years, remodeled houses, and built wrought iron crafts from 1997 to 2004, including full size animals for the Sioux Falls Zoo. He was a member of the American Legion and the Fire Department. Ike and LaVonne loved to travel. He also enjoyed dancing and loved hunting with his boys. Ike was a wonderful devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He made the world a better place to live in. Ike died on Sunday, July 25, 2010, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD.
     Ike is survived by his wife, LaVonne of Lakefield, MN; three children, Michael (Cindy) Hutzler of Kaiser, MO, James (Nancy) Hutzler of Eldon, MO, and Debra (Robert) Harrod of Lakefield, MN; nine grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and George Hutzler; his stepdad, Walt Soleta, and sister, Lorraine Schuknecht.
     Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield, MN, with Pastor Jonathan Nack officiating.

A time with family and friends will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield.

Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
