Obituary for Lillian Mary Jacobson

Worthington, MN

      Lillian Mary Jacobson was born October 5, 1919 in Worthington, MN, the daughter of Paul and Hannah Schafer. She attended school in Worthington, and graduated from Worthington High School. She was married to Lawrence Jacobson on May 3, 1940 in Sibley, IA. They lived in Worthington and had three daughters; Audrey, Rosie and Julie.

      Lillian was a lifetime member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, which she attended faithfully as long as she was able. She was a devoted stay at home mother to all three daughters. She loved having tea with her neighbors and family, baking cookies, and cooking for her family. After retirement she and Lawrence enjoyed traveling to little towns in the area, going out to eat, and riding around the countryside. Lillian treasured the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. She passed away Monday, September 28, 2015 at the Country View Manor in Sibley, IA.

      Lillian is survived by her daughter Julie Brewer, Julie’s fiancé Gerardo (Poncho) Lira, both of Worthington; daughter Roseanne Breuer of Lakeville, MN; her grandchildren: Tina Tolsma (fiancé Matt Meier), Dustin (Lindy) Tolsma, Bryan (Suzie) Johnston, Jeff (Joanna) Johnston, Steve Johnston, Todd (Elizabeth) Breuer, and Tracy Steele; 9 great grandchildren; one sister Maryanne Haberman of Kimberling City, MO, and one brother Jerry Schafer of Windom, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Robert, Herbert, Dorothy, Paul Jr., and Arnold, and her daughter Audrey Johnston.

      Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 2, 2015, at 10:30 a.m., at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Worthington, MN, with Rev. Dr. Daren Flinck officiating. Burial will be in the Worthington Cemetery.

      Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, MN.
